Some trails are smooth while others are ledgy and edgy. Trails in the area have epic climbs, white-knuckling down hills and let’s not forget the West Virginia mud! Pocahontas County is a great place to hone your handling skills and challenge the most experienced riders.
The Raven Golf Club at Snowshoe Mountain features an 18-hole PGA Championship course designed by Gary Player, ranked the #18 Best Course in the Nation by GolfWeek Magazine and received 4.5 out of 5 stars from Golf Digest.
The Pocahontas Country Club, located just south of Marlinton, is a challenging 9-hole course noted for rolling terrain and unmatched scenic surroundings. The challenging signature hole is a 201 yard, elevated tee, par 3 that requires a long accurate tee shot over water.
Both courses are open to the public and provide an outstanding golfing experience for all levels of golfers.
At Shavers Lake, you can rent Pedal boats and canoes, go for a hike along one of many trails or opt to relax in one of the hammocks.
